SIAM on Life Sciences

The SIAM Activity Group on Life Sciences brings together researchers who seek to develop and apply mathematical and computational methods in all areas of the life sciences. This conference of the activity group will provide a cross-disciplinary forum for catalyzing mathematical research relevant to the life sciences. Our partner from Simula, Alexandra Diem, will be there presenting their work on the modeling and simulations developed within CUPIDO.
The Heart by Numbers

The focus on mathematical and biophysical models coupled with experiments sets this meeting apart from cardiological and biological meetings. The meeting will be highly interdisciplinary with contributions from medicine, biology, physics, bioengineering, and mathematics. Alexandra Diem from SIMULA will contribute presenting their latest results within CUPIDO.

This meeting will bring together the leading proponents of novel optical techniques in Europe and the USA and discuss the major technical and biophysical questions they address. The presentations and discussion will form the basis of a position paper on ‘Novel optics-based approaches for cardiac electrophysiology’ to be written after the meeting and supported by the European Society of Cardiology Working Group on Cellular Cardiac Electrophysiology (ESC WG on CCE).
